Swyft Filings LLC Service Review (Advantages & Disadvantages)
Having opened in 2012, Swyft Filings is a relatively young company compared to other LLC formation services.
Still, with thousands of businesses served so far, they’ve already managed to carve out a significant market share despite heavy competition.
With this Swyft Filings LLC service review, you’ll find the information you need to decide if you want to use their services for your company.
Advantages & Disadvantages
- Their base rate of $49 is among the least expensive options for LLC formation service in the entire industry. It’s a tough price point to beat.
- With the Swyft Filings 100% satisfaction guarantee, they’ll refund their service fees with no questions asked if you’re unhappy for any reason.
- For cash-strapped entrepreneurs, Swyft Filings allows you to pay for your LLC formation in two installments rather than all up front. That can make a big difference for if you’re starting a business on a budget.
- Even their cheapest formation package includes a 30-minute business tax consult and lifetime company alerts, so although it’s inexpensive it’s still not a stripped down offering.
- None of their LLC formation packages include registered agent service, unlike other services who offer it for free and at the same price, like IncFile. Seeing as they charge an annual rate of $149 for registered agent, that’s a major added expense. (What is a registered agent?)
Swyft Filings LLC Packages
Swyft Filings gives their customers 3 options when it comes to LLC formation packages. Each has its own price point and feature set, and because no two companies are exactly alike, it’s difficult to make one blanket recommendation for all entrepreneurs.
However, we can discern pretty easily that not all of these packages are created equal, so let’s dive in and see which one’s best for you. Of course, if you’d like to review all the details of every package, you can take a look at the breakdown on their website.
Basic ($49 + State Fee)
It all starts with the Basic package for $49 (plus state fee). This LLC formation option is appropriately named, as you receive all the essential elements like a company name availability check, and the preparation and filing of your Articles of Organization. In addition, the Basic level also includes a 30-minute business tax consultation, and access to their ComplianceGuard lifetime company alerts tool.
Standard ($149 + State Fee)
The next level up is the Standard package, which adds a number of features at its $149 price point. Most importantly, you get a federal tax ID number (EIN) that allows your business to hire employees and open company bank accounts. Swyft Filings also includes three custom forms: an LLC operating agreement which defines your company structure, a banking resolution which is not really necessary when you have an EIN, and minutes to keep track of your company meetings.
Premium ($299 + State Fee)
Finally, there’s Premium which checks in at $299 before state fees. At this level, Swyft Filings throws in expedited filing, electronic delivery of your formation documents and an upgrade to FedEx tracking. Also, there’s 3 months of web hosting from a 3rd-party provider, and a digital LLC kit/seal which is a modern take on an antiquated document verification technique no longer in use.
Which is the Best Option?
I don’t see enough value in the Premium package to justify doubling the price tag from Standard. At that point, the decision becomes quite simple.
It costs $70 to add an EIN to the Basic package, and you probably do need an EIN. So, the question is whether you’d rather spend $119 on “Basic + EIN” or spend another $30 to get the Standard package which includes 3 custom documents.
Personally, I think the “Basic + EIN” option is the best deal. It, unfortunately, does not include registered agent service, but you can purchase that from Swyft Filings for an additional $149 per year.
What Are Other Entrepreneurs Saying?
Swyft Filings is a highly popular LLC formation service, as evidenced by the fact that there are thousands of online customer reviews. Most of their feedback is available on ShopperApproved, but there’s quite a few on TrustPilot as well.
Considering how many reviews they have, it’s even more impressive that they maintain such high average scores. If you want to know more about their customer experience, I recommend reading through some reviews for 10-15 minutes.
In short, their customers appear to be fairly happy, especially when it comes to how quickly Swyft Filings processes orders.
Should You Use Swyft Filings?
Swyft Filings has had a lot of growth in the few years they’ve been around. They’ve gotten popular for a reason, as their customers clearly have few regrets about their decision to go with Swyft Filings over one of their many competitors.
Still, they’re not going to be the right answer for all entrepreneurs, so let’s walk through some scenarios in which you may or may not want to choose Swyft Filings.
When to Use Swyft Filings:
If the combination of low prices and a 100% satisfaction guarantee from a company on the rise interests you, then Swyft Filings should be a good choice for your business.
When NOT to Use Swyft Filings:
The lack of registered agent service in all of their LLC formation packages is a pretty major disadvantage for Swyft Filings. Some of their competitors offer a full year of registered agent with LLC service.
Swyft Filings is a quick and effective option for LLC formation service. There are ways to save some money by bundling registered agent service together in a package with your LLC service, like with other online incorporation services. Still, Swyft Filings is worth considering.
