Do you need to form a new limited liability company (LLC), but you’ve decided you’d rather get some assistance than go the DIY route?
This Incorporate.com vs IncFile LLC service comparison is structured in a way that highlights their major commonalities and differences, and should make your decision a bit easier. Let’s find out which one is the best fit for you.
Do Incorporate.com and IncFile Offer Good Value?
|🥇IncFile||Starts at $0||★★★★★ (4.8/5)||Excellent||Absolutely|
|Incorporate.com||Starts at $99||★★★☆☆ (3.1/5)||Fair||Sometimes|
IncFile and Incorporate.com are two of the many online LLC services. However, IncFile has some distinct advantages that make them our top pick for most of our readers.
To begin with, IncFile offers free LLC services, which is much less than you’ll spend with Incorporate.com ($99). Furthermore, IncFile provides a full year of registered agent service with any formation package, a feature that Incorporate.com doesn’t include at any price point.
However, in general, they are a decent IncFile alternative.
Do you need some more information before making the decision for your business? Read on to find out everything you need to know to make an informed choice.
6 Things They Have In Common
1) Affordable: Both of these LLC service providers can save you a considerable amount of money. As opposed to hiring an attorney to form your new company, Incorporate.com and IncFile are hundreds of dollars cheaper.
2) Customer Support: Saving money is great, but you don’t want to go it alone either. IncFile and Incorporate.com have customer support networks that can make your life much easier. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the formation process, they have the answers you seek.
3) Experience: Experience is the name of the game in this industry, and both of these companies have plenty of it. They’ve both helped form thousands of businesses, and Incorporate.com has even been open since the 19th century! They’re both entirely legitimate and trustworthy operations.
4) Additional Services: If you would like assistance beyond just your LLC formation, Incorporate.com and IncFile both offer dozens of other business solutions. They’re one-stop shops for anything from registered agent service to federal tax ID number (EIN) obtainment.
5) Educational: Do you want to learn more about business formations, startup tasks, industry-specific guidelines, and more? Both Incorporate.com and IncFile have comprehensive learning centers on their websites where you can find tons of relevant info, whether you’re a customer or not.
6) Efficiency: Are you in a hurry to get your LLC formed? That’s no problem for Incorporate.com or IncFile, as these companies both have expediting service available for all 50 states. It costs extra, of course, but it can be worth it if time is of the essence.
Side by Side Comparisons
Would you rather pay nothing or nearly $100 for the same service? That’s not exactly a difficult choice, is it? As we move through the other categories in this comparison, IncFile’s lead only grows even wider. Pricing is just the beginning when it comes to the many significant advantages IncFile holds over Incorporate.com.
With Incorporate.com’s $99 package, you’re truly only getting the basics of formation: a business name availability check, along with the drafting and filing of your articles of organization. Even at their totally free price point, IncFile adds some valuable features, including a full year of registered agent service and access to their lifetime company alerts system.
Even if Incorporate.com and IncFile both had the same pricing model, IncFile would still be our preference by a mile due to their far superior feature set. To make Incorporate.com’s LLC formation package match the features of IncFile’s, you would need to add a whopping $235 for registered agent service. This makes their pricing difference even more significant — if you want registered agent service with your formation, you could pay $334 with Incorporate.com or nothing with IncFile. Which option would you prefer?
IncFile has plenty of experience, with more than 500,000 businesses formed since 2004. However, Incorporate.com is on another level when it comes to longevity, as they’ve served 750,000+ businesses since they opened way back in 1899.
We’ll give a slight advantage to Incorporate.com when it comes to customer service. Both of these providers have strong customer support in general, but Incorporate.com is a bit better in two crucial areas.
First, Incorporate.com is available from 8 am to 8 pm ET on weekdays and 9 am to 6 pm ET on Saturdays, compared to IncFile’s 10 am to 7 pm ET weekday availability. Secondly, IncFile can occasionally have some long wait times, as we’ve had to wait over 24 hours to hear back from them by phone at times. IncFile’s email support is basically not even worth trying, as we’ve filled out their contact form several times only to never hear back from them.
Both of these companies have processing times that vary depending on your state of formation. They also both list their state-by-state estimates in a convenient manner on their websites. Generally speaking, their turnarounds are roughly equal in most states.
Incorporate.com and IncFile both have advanced order status tracking tools on their websites. You’ll always know exactly where you stand in real-time with either of these providers.
Registered Agent Service
Every LLC in America is required to designate a registered agent, which is a person or business entity that receives important document deliveries (like service of process) from your state government, informs you of the receipt, then forwards the documents to you. This is so crucial because the state needs to have a reliable means of contacting your business at any time.
At $235 per year, Incorporate.com has one of the highest price points for registered agent service in this industry. They also do not include any registered agent service with any of their LLC formation packages. IncFile charges $119 annually for registered agent service, and they also include a full year with any formation service.
IncFile gets stellar customer feedback. With nearly 27,000 reviews across the web and nearly unanimously positive scores, it’s clear that their customers are quite pleased with the service they receive from IncFile. Their clients often discuss how much they appreciate the simplicity of IncFile’s services and their affordable prices.
As for Incorporate.com, they only have eight reviews online, and most of them take a critical viewpoint. Their clients have some issues with their high prices, especially for registered agent service. Customer feedback is a major advantage to IncFile.
Ease of Use
In our opinion, Incorporate.com and IncFile both offer easy-to-use business solutions. As opposed to spending hours forming your own LLC, all you have to do in most cases to get your LLC formed with these providers is give them some basic information. They both also have user-friendly websites.
Both Incorporate.com and IncFile offer a wide variety of additional services that can help you start, build, and expand your business. They have many services in common, as you can order things like annual reports, business licensing research packages, registered agent service, certificates of good standing, EIN acquisitions, and more from either one of them.
These companies also each have some exclusive services that aren’t offered by the other one. For example, only IncFile offers business accounting services, while only Incorporate.com provides mail forwarding service.
Which LLC Provider Wins?
With either Incorporate.com or IncFile, you’re getting a service provider that can be trusted to form your LLC quickly and effectively. They both have plenty of experience, and either of them will save you a significant amount of money compared to the cost of hiring a lawyer to handle your formation.
If you remain undecided, we’ll finish this comparison by going through common scenarios that may sway your opinion to one provider or the other.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
If I Decide to Use IncFile, Which Package Should I Choose?
IncFile’s Silver package ($0 + state fee) is one of our favorite LLC formation packages in the entire industry, because it includes a full year of registered agent service along with your formation process.
At this price point, it’s the most affordable combination of LLC formation and registered agent service we’re aware of.
If you’re looking for a few more advanced features, their Gold package at $149 is also a good value, as it adds an EIN and an operating agreement.
Is IncFile as Good as Other LLC Services?
Is IncFile the best LLC service? That’s one of our most asked questions. In short, they certainly are one of the best. For a close up look at how they compare to other top-rated LLC services, check out our comparisons below:
Does IncFile Handle New York Publication?
One of the only areas where IncFile comes up short in our opinion is when it comes to the issue of state-specific compliance requirements.
IncFile does not handle requirements like publication, because as they told us over the phone, publication requirements “need to be taken care of with the state directly.” It’s a bit disappointing, especially considering that quite a few of their competitors do offer this service. For what it’s worth, Incorporate.com does not offer assistance with publication requirements either.
That said, if you need an LLC service that also helps with New York publication requirements, ZenBusiness is worth looking into.
Which Service Has Fewer Upsells?
While IncFile avoids upsells for the most part, Incorporate.com takes every possible opportunity to try to sell you their registered agent service.
They go so far as to include some rather misleading verbiage in their LLC formation package select screen, as they have an annual report service and an online compliance tool that appear to be included with their LLC service, but once you read the fine print you’ll realize that you can only access these features if you pay them $235 extra to get registered agent service.
Do These Services Share My Information With Third Parties?
Incorporate.com doesn’t push any third-party partnerships on you, instead choosing to focus on presenting their own goods and services to the best of their ability.
As for IncFile, they do have a couple of “special offers” on their package select screen that involve sharing your personal information with other companies. Specifically, their business bank account offer is a partnership with Bank of America, and their business website and hosting offer is an info-sharing agreement with a company called SnapWeb.
Does Either of These Services Have a Refund Policy?
Let’s just say that neither of these companies excels when it comes to refund policies. Incorporate.com has a rather vague policy that makes it difficult to tell if they ever provide refunds or not.
Check out how they describe it in their own words: “If you cancel your order before we have submitted it to a federal, state, or local office, Incorporate.com will refund the total amount paid for such order less a service fee. If you cancel your order after we have already submitted it, we will use our discretion to determine what portion, if any, we will refund.”
IncFile’s refund policy isn’t exactly an advantage either, as they only provide refunds if you request one before they send money to your state government, which they say is usually within 24 hours. Even then, they charge a $30 processing fee. After they send your payment to the state, there are no refunds for any reason.
Which LLC Formation Website Is Faster?
This category is essentially a toss-up because both Incorporate.com and IncFile base their turnaround times on the ability of each state to process LLC formations. One service or the other might be a couple of days faster in a few isolated states, but for the most part, they are equals when it comes to turnaround times.
Can I Just Form an LLC On My Own, Without a Service?
You certainly can, and quite a few people do form their own LLCs without assistance. However, the DIY route doesn’t provide the same peace of mind that we get from hiring a professional service to form our LLC. Additionally, because each state has its own rules and regulations for LLC formations, it can be a hassle just to figure out what your state redquires.
