Harbor Compliance LLC Service Review (Advantages, Disadvantages & More)

Harbor Compliance LLC Service ReviewDespite the saturated nature of the online LLC formation industry, Harbor Compliance has managed to build a customer base of over 10,000 since they opened in 2012.

Clearly they’ve succeeded in setting themselves apart from their dozens of competitors — and we’re here to discuss exactly that.

In this Harbor Compliance LLC service review we’ll discuss some advantages and disadvantages of using their services, break down their package options, and take a look at their customer feedback to help you decide whether or not they’re the best choice for your LLC.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages of Harbor Compliance:

  • Their customer support is excellent. If you choose to work with Harbor Compliance, they’ll assign a Compliance Specialist to answer any of your questions via phone or email for the duration of the formation process. No waiting on hold or talking to random service reps.
  • Unlike most of their competitors, Harbor Compliance offers state-specific compliance assistance. Few other formation providers offer this depth of service.
  • Both of their LLC formation packages come with a full year of registered agent services.
  • Their customer feedback is overwhelmingly positive (more on this later).

Disadvantages of Harbor Compliance:

  • While still less expensive than hiring a lawyer, Harbor Compliance costs much more than other providers. Their LLC formation packages start at $399, while alternatives like IncFile start at only $49.

Harbor Compliance LLC Packages

Harbor Compliance offers two options for LLC formation services, each with a different bundle of features to satisfy different needs. Feel free to read up on these packages on their website, but first let’s break them down below:

Option 1:

Their LLC formation service begins with the Formation package, priced at $399 before state fee. This package starts with the basic elements of formation like a business name availability check, and the full preparation and filing of your articles of organization.

In addition, you’ll receive a customized operating agreement which outlines the structure of your LLC, a federal tax ID number (EIN) which you can use to open business bank accounts and hire employees, and registered agent service to receive and forward your important government documents.

This is a smart package of valuable bundled features, and contains everything most companies need to form a compliant LLC. Whenever I look through LLC services, I look for packages that include an EIN and registered agent with formation, as this one does. While there are competitors who can provide you with all of these features for less than $399, Harbor Compliance’s premium customer service makes it worth the extra money.

Option 2:

The other choice is the Compliance package, which includes everything from the Formation bundle but adds some advanced features. The first and arguably most valuable is that you receive ongoing support from your Compliance Specialist beyond your formation.

Don’t get me wrong, customers who purchase the Formation package also get great support, but with the Compliance package your Specialist will guide you through ongoing compliance requirements as well as issues related to your formation.

Additionally, this package includes prep and filing of initial reports and annual reports, S-Corp or C-Corp tax elections to change the taxation format of your LLC, publishing for states that require newspaper ads to publish proof of your formation, and an LLC kit and seal which is a symbolic way of authenticating and organizing company forms.

My Opinion:

For most companies, the Formation package should include everything you need and nothing you don’t. It’s a smart bundle of features, and many companies simply won’t require the ongoing compliance support offered by the Compliance package.

However, if the ongoing compliance assistance sounds reassuring, I do think that the Formation package is a worthy purchase as well.

What Are Other Entrepreneurs Saying?

As a relatively new company with just a few years of experience, it’s not surprising that Harbor Compliance doesn’t have a ton of online customer feedback, at least not compared to some competitors that have thousands of reviews. Still, the feedback they do have is so positive that it’s easy to overlook the fact that there isn’t a lot of it.

If you would like to get a feel for what the Harbor Compliance customer experience is like, I would recommend reading through some of their reviews for yourself on BBB, Google and Facebook.

In general, the vast majority of their clients mention the exceptional support they receive from Harbor Compliance’s service reps, which is no big surprise to anyone familiar with their services.

Should You Use Harbor Compliance?

Harbor Compliance is one of the top LLC formation services online. Of course, every business has a unique set of requirements when it comes to formation and ongoing compliance concerns, so let’s wrap things up by discussing a couple scenarios in which you may or may not want to use Harbor Compliance.

When to Use Harbor Compliance:

Any entrepreneur who wants a complete LLC formation package with next-level customer service has to be interested in Harbor Compliance. The ongoing support provided by their Compliance package makes it much easier to maintain compliant status for busy business owners without a lot of time on their hands.

When NOT to Use Harbor Compliance:

There are cheaper ways to form your LLC with registered agent and EIN services, like with IncFile’s Gold package which runs $149 plus state fee.

Final Verdict:

Harbor Compliance is a great option to provide LLC service because of their fantastic customer support and their valuable packages of well-balanced features.
