The only way to change your registered agent is by filing the appropriate form (either paper or online) with the Secretary of State’s office. If you already have an account, you can sign in; otherwise, you’ll need to create one. Once you’re signed in, follow these steps:
- Click “File Amendment”
- Select “Statement of Change”
- Input information for your registered agent
- You can also change your officers or members, but it’s not required
- Sign and double check your information
- Provide your payment information
As of January 1, 2018, these parishes are required to submit business documents online: Ascension, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, Ouachita, Rapides, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Terrebonne.

Both methods require a $25 fee, which you can pay by card online or by check – made payable to “Secretary of State” – for mail.
